Book now for theatre production raising awareness of CSE

Mister Shapeshifter is an exciting, very modern, fairy tale about how some adults abuse children’s trust and how children can protect themselves. The play has been developed by GW Theatre to address these challenging and sensitive issues of CSE with Year 6 pupils.

The play is part of our ongoing approach and commitment to safeguarding our children and young people from Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse.  The production, along with its supporting resources, is now widely regarded as a ground breaking piece of work for younger children.

GW Theatre Company has a reputation for producing powerful, entertaining and funny plays which are very successful at engaging young people’s heads and hearts to achieve a lasting and sustained impact.

Following a successful pilot run in a number of Bradford primary schools, we have received funding from the Community Safety Partnership and the West Yorkshire Wide CSE Awareness Project to deliver 56 performances of the play.

Performances will take place in the spring term, starting from January 2017. Demand is expected to be high so please respond as quickly as possible to secure your performance.

The cost per school is £250 (the full cost is £900, but the Council will contribute £650 for each performance).

Schools can ‘buddy up’ with another school to halve the cost to £125 each. The maximum audience per performance is 90 pupils.

GW Theatre will come to your school to deliver a performance of the play to your Year 6 children. You may also want to ask some parents to attend – you can discuss this option with GW Theatre.

The play is supported by a specially written lesson outline, and evaluation and feedback is built in. It is a fully self-contained delivery delivered by one of the best and most experienced theatre companies in the country.

To begin the booking process, please contact GW Theatre Company directly to confirm your interest and to provide full contact details of the specific member of staff (Year 6 teacher) who will deal with all aspects of the performance.

You will then be sent full information on the play to prepare for your performance. Once a date and time has been confirmed you will be sent the supporting lesson outlines/activities together with information to support both children and staff after the performance.

Please contact GW Theatre if you are not clear about anything or have any questions.
