The Children's Bookshow presents Jo Empson at King's Hall Ilkley

We welcome acclaimed writer and illustrator, Jo Empson, to this year's Children's Bookshow at Ilkley's Kings Hall in October.

Jo Empson

Date:         Tuesday 11 October

Time:         1.30pm

Venue:      King's Hall, Ilkley, LS29 8HB  (in partnership with Ilkley Literature Festival)

Tickets are priced at £5.00 per child, and accompanying adults are free.  The session lasts for approximately one hour.

Using Rabbityness, her first published book, Jo will take the audience on a creative journey to show them how to make a book.  From early roughs and sketch books full of ideas to miniature mock up books to the finished work, Jo will offer children a fascinating insight into the world of a picture book illustrator.

With lots of audience participation, Jo will read her stories Little Home Bird and Chimpanzees for Tea and the children will be able to see her illustrations on a large screen as they listen to the stories. Join us for a fun and inspiring afternoon of stories and drawing.

With confirmation of the theatre booking schools will receive two free copies of Jo's book to use as a classroom resource.

Free school workshops

For schools attending the performance we can also offer the chance to claim one of our four free in-school workshops with Jo Empson.  These fun, interactive sessions are a great experience for your children, so contact us soon if you are interested.
