The Royal Life Saving Society’s (RLSS) Drowning Prevention Week takes place Saturday 13 to Saturday 20 June, and is an annual, water safety campaign designed to educate children and young adults in water safety and lifesaving skills.
Drowning Prevention Week educates children aged 5 to 17 with crucial water safety advice just before the summer holidays, when young people are outdoors more and need these skills and knowledge most, so everyone can enjoy water safely.
The RLSS has produced downloadable Drowning Prevention Week resources which can be used in schools. The website also has SEND lesson plans and resources for ages 11+ and SEND lesson plans and resources for ages 5-11. This year they have also created the ‘Speak Up. Be a Mate’ campaign aimed at ages 13 to 17.
