Workshop Dates:
- 1st July – either 10 – 12pm or 12:30 -2:30 pm
- 7th July - 12:30 -2:30 pm
- 8th July – either 10 – 12pm or 12:30 -2:30 pm
Workshop Outline:
- 30-45 minute tour of the Bradford Photo Archive to give an overview of the collections and insight into the history of photography
- Approx. 45 min task: students explore the museum and take photographs of museum/objects whilst considering topics e.g. abstract patterns, light vs. shade.
Imaginative interpretation: the photos should aim to represent Bradford Industrial Museum and Bradford’s industrial heritage in a unique and visually interesting way.
- 30-45 min task: Students gather for reflection/discussion of the photos they've taken in the museum displayed on Mac desktop, co-led by teacher and photo archivist.
- Set task for homework: students to take a portrait of loved ones (family/friends/neighbours) in a carefully chosen setting (reminiscent of Belle Vue Studio portraits where clothing, props, accessories very deliberately chosen). Consider lighting, aperture,
viewpoint. Students should also consider good lighting/background/other topics they are learning about.
- Schools submit their photos to the Bradford Photo Archive to be judged by a panel, per individual school. One winner and one prize per school.
Funding: The workshops are fully funded by our Arts.UK Museum and Schools Funding. (Schools/Colleges will need to cover the cost of their travel to Bradford Industrial Museum:
