Dear Headteacher,
Next Thursday presents a special moment for our city, with Bradford City AFC competing in the play-off second leg.
We invite schools across the district to take part in a simple, inclusive show of community pride.
The idea is straightforward:
Students are invited to wear kit, or some sort of accessory (scarf, hair tie, wristband etc) – anything and everything is welcome. Be it a touch of claret and amber alongside their usual uniform next Thursday, as a way of celebrating the city and being part
of a shared moment.
There is:
- No expectation to buy anything – a scarf, hair ribbon, wristband or small accessory is absolutely fine, though we'd love to see kits!
- No requirement to take part – this is entirely optional for each school
- No disruption to the school day – simply a light-touch way to build a sense of belonging and shared experience
We know schools are rightly focused on consistency, inclusion and minimising pressure on families. This has been designed to support those priorities while offering pupils a chance to feel part of something bigger across the city.
If you do choose to take part, we would love to celebrate your school’s involvement across club and Foundation channels as part of a wider “city backing its team” story. There is a strong comms value in this and we'd like to tell local media who's involved.
If you are keen to get involved, please email me so that we can keep an eye out for anything that you share. We're inviting schools to use #BringOutTheBantams and #BCAFC, whilst tagging the football club and ourselves at the foundation @bcafc_cf.
To make things easy, we’ve included a short suggested note below that you can adapt and share with parents if helpful.
Thank you, as always, for the role you play in shaping pride, identity and opportunity for young people across Bradford.
If you have any questions or would like to be involved, please don’t hesitate to reply.
Many thanks

Suggested parent note (optional):
Next Thursday, as part of a city-wide moment, students are invited to wear claret and amber as we celebrate and support Bradford City's big play off game. This can be whatever you like, whether it be kits or accessories alongside their school uniform.
This could be something simple such as a scarf, hair accessory, or wristband. There is no expectation to purchase anything new.
Taking part is entirely optional, but we hope it offers a fun way for pupils to feel part of a shared moment across the city.
Thank you for your support.
