Bradford libraries are offering schools some free sessions with local author Emily Parkin, writer and illustrator of the book 'Titus Salt'.

Emily will be joining Shipley Library, to celebrate the Heritage Festival throughout Bradford, to read her book, give an insight into how the book was produced, and answer any of the questions the children may have.

She will have some of the original illustrations for the children to look at and talk about how she thought up all the rhymes and rhythms. The session will be finished with a fun 'Saltaire' themed craft activity.

This beautiful children's book tells the story of Titus Salt and how he built Saltaire.

We have sessions for schools at the following times:

Friday 24th October

10am -11am

1pm - 2pm

Please note that each session can accommodate 1-2 classes of 30 children per class. Sessions are aimed at children from Year 3 - Year 6.

If any of the children would like to buy a signed copy of the book, there will be a 10%  school's discount on the day (£12 down to £10.80)

If you are interested in booking this exciting event, please provide school name; year group; contact name and email. Send this information to michelle.foster@bradford.gov.uk. The deadline for applications is Friday 4th July 2025.
