Our Draft Climate Action Plan aims to attract significant investment for green jobs and growth whilst striving towards an inclusive, equitable, just and fair transition to Net Zero Carbon by 2038.
The plan outlines a comprehensive package of projects, programs, and communications to create a sustainable, healthy, and resilient district. It focuses on reducing carbon emissions through various actions, including transitioning to renewable energy sources,
improving energy efficiency, and promoting sustainable transport. The plan also addresses biodiversity, climate education, and community engagement.
The plan comes at no additional cost to the Council; it recognises the areas and types of influence we can exert and outlines the initial pathway steps needed to achieve net zero in 2038. It was also put together with the support of key stakeholders and
experts. Responses from the consultation will also help to form the final plan.
Our vision is to be "a sustainable, healthy, vibrant, and resilient district, ready to seize opportunities and work together to overcome the challenges of a changing climate."
