Published on behalf of Delta Trust and Ryecroft Primary Academy: Statutory consultation on the proposed reduction in Published Admission Number for Ryecroft Primary Academy for the 2022/23 academic year

Ryecroft Primary Academy Consultation

We are consulting on:

  • A reduction in the academy’s Pupil Admission Number (PAN) from 60 to 30 pupils effective from 1 September 2022.
  • This change is to update the admission number held by the Local Authority only as the Funding agreement held with the Department for Education already recognises Ryecroft as a one form entry school.

Summary

Ryecroft Primary Academy are looking to consult with all parties to reduce the PAN held by the Local Authority from 60 to 30 pupils. The Schools Admission Code details the timescales for consultation and given a consultation in May 2022 this would only allow for the PAN to be permanently reduced to 30 effective from September 2024. We are therefore, also consulting on an in-year reduction to the PAN for September 2022 and September 2023.

The school currently has use of a temporary triple classroom (Portacabin) which is due to be removed from the school site in the Summer 2022. Following the removal of the temporary classrooms the school will physically not be able to accommodate a PAN of 60 pupils.

Applications for September 2022 provided by the Local Authority are currently as below 30 and although this may change before 1st September 2022 numbers are not expected to exceed this number.

There will therefore be no detrimental effect to parents and pupils in relation to the reduction to PAN. Parents/Guardians will still be able to access their school of choice.

The Local Authority has provided details of the expected demographic for pupil numbers at Ryecroft and current predictions for pupils in reception reaches at its highest 26 pupils in 2023/24. The data shows there has been a reduction in pupils within the catchment and that an admission number of 60 is no longer relevant.
