HENRY Healthy Start in Childcare Training (childminders/EY staff)
This 1-day training is accredited by the RSPH, for day care staff and childminders recognises that childcare settings play a vital role in providing a healthy start for young children. It provides practical information about nutrition and activity for young
children, and tools to manage behaviour for physical and emotional wellbeing. By the end of the training trainees will:
- Develop their knowledge about healthy meals, snacks and portion sizes for young children, adopting a
consistent approach within the setting and across the local area
- Model a healthy lifestyle to young children in their care which research has shown is vital in influencing children’s lifestyle habits and preference
- Understand the value of active play for a healthy start and use a
range of ways to encourage it
- Manage children’s behaviour and build their self-esteem, so that children start school
emotionally prepared and ready to learn
