Children's Speech and Language Therapy - BDCT

You can access universal and targeted strategies and interventions to begin support in school.

We have screening tools, training opportunities and environmental support information available on the website too.

Our website offers information and training on the referral system here:  How to refer - BDCT

*****PLEASE NOTE*****

You must use the updated forms on the website to make any new referrals.  We do not accept referrals unless on the linked forms.  Please make sure you check the referral criteria and complete a screening tool before making a referral.

We continue to have long waiting lists for support and are working hard to reduce these.  Please ensure that you are implementing universal and targeted strategies and interventions in your settings before considering referral to the service.

It will be important that you include information about this support, and the impact it has had, in your referrals

We will continue to prioritise high risk referrals so please do let us know if you have significant concerns about a child or young person, particularly if they have:

  • severe, unmet communication needs AND

  • social, emotional or mental health needs  AND/OR

  • safeguarding concerns AND/OR

  • a current Education, Health and Care Plan referral where Speech and Language input is required
