The Adventure Development Unit are a Bradford Council service which provides high quality outdoor and adventurous experiences within the Bradford district and beyond.

The team covers both, centre based and outreach programmes and with our full accreditation from the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority, Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge and AdventureMark. We pride ourselves on our high standards of operational and safety management, whilst having the experience and ability to tailor our programmes to fit in with your educational and enrichment needs.

Doe Park Water Activities Centre

Our amazing facility at Doe Park in Denholme provides a base for a variety of educational programmes. Activities on the water include kayaking, canoeing, raft building, paddleboarding, sailing and dragon boating as well as our fantastic high ropes facility which offers high in the sky activities from climbing, abseiling, team challenges and ariel obstacle course. We also provide land-based activities ranging from archery, problem solving challenges, and bush craft activities.

Baildon Recreation Centre

Based at Baildon Recreation Centre we take advantage of being a stone’s throw from Shipley Glen with a number of amazing bike trails around the area for both novice riders and those looking for a bit more adventure along with opportunities for climbing, abseiling, archery, local walks, and bushcraft activities.

Adventure Outreach

A large part of our outdoor services are our outreach programmes. We have a fully mobile resource of instructors delivering activities on school sites, in local parks and open countryside areas. We provide a mobile climbing tower that can be utilised on your grounds for school events and galas, kayaking on local canals, climbing at cow and calf rocks, hill walking around the Bradford and Calder valleys, to activities further afield ranging from kayaking, mountain biking, walking, caving and gorge scrambling in the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales.
