Child Sexual Exploitation Seminar - The Muslim Community's Response

The Professional Muslims Institute has been deeply appalled and shocked by the recent stories about child sexual exploitation and sexual violence that have been perpetrated by men mainly of Pakistani origin

We believe that the issue has nothing to do with Islam. It is rather the lack of spirituality in the perpetrators that could be said to be one of the key factors in them committing such uncivilized and indecent acts as Islam protects the rights of women and young, irrespective of their faiths and therefore abusing young females is contrary to the teaching of Islam.

We have our individual and collective duty to safeguard and protect our children. Every child whatever the background is precious and matters. There is clearly a real problem in our society that needs to be addressed urgently by all.

Join us with a panel of experts, discuss the issues and find a solution to protect and safeguard children and young people from sexual exploitation.

The panel includes Nazir Afzal OBE (Crown Prosecution Service), Shaista Gohir MBE (Muslim Womens Network), Qari Asim MBE (Leeds Makkah Mosque), Safina Aziz (Professional Muslims Institute) and Ansar Ali (Together Against Grooming).

There will also be representatives from Bradford Safeguarding Childrens Board and West Yorkshire Police.

All welcome.
