The following letter from Paul Makin, Assistant Director of School Improvement can be viewed below:
Recent emergency and out of school hours incidents have highlighted the importance of the Local Authority being able to contact school leaders at home in the event of an occurrence which may affect the ability of a school to function the following day.
Recent examples include fire, flood, power failure, adjacent bomb threat. We may be contacted by emergency services at any time and would want to alert you as soon as possible.
To this end we maintain an up-to-date list of the home and mobile telephone numbers of three key members of staff, typically the Headteacher, a member of the senior leadership team and the Site Manager/Caretaker. The list is securely protected on Bradford
Schools Online and can be accessed only by Council officers dealing with emergencies. If you have not recently done so, please ensure that the details for your school are up to date. Under ‘Maintenance Tools’ on your school page on BSO, go to ‘Manage Contacts’
and click on ‘Add Person’ and then ‘Job’ which gives a drop down menu and there you will find ‘Named Emergency Contacts’.
Thankfully, it is rare that we need to contact a school in this way, but should the need arise, we want to be sure that we are notifying the appropriate person.
Thank you for your co-operation in this matter.
