New Guidance 'Promoting the education of Looked After Children'

A new version of Statutory Guidance that must be followed by all schools entitled 'Promoting the education of Looked After Children' was issued at the end of the summer term.

Schools and Designated Teachers for Looked After Children were alerted by email to the updating of the previous 2010 guidance for local authorities on promoting the educational achievement of this high priority group of pupils.

The document has sections on supporing individual pupils through use of the Pupil Premium and the Personal Education Plan (PEP),

It also has a list of 'Useful resources and external organisations' at the end of the document with links to The Who Cares Trust; the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire that is completed for all Looked After Children; a report on the impact of virtual schools on the educational progress of Looked After Children as well as the Ofsted publication 'Looked After Children: good practice in schools.
