The forum will discuss ways in which maths provision for young people can be broadened and how this impacts on other areas of education. Speakers will focus on:
- Why achievement in maths is crucial to future success
- How we can support maths in the home and community
Two contributors will show how partnership working can lead to district wide improvements in maths attainment. The first will include primary age pupils from West Bowling who have been supported at home, at school and by their local community to reach high
levels of maths competence at an early age.
The second contributor, a successful accountant from West Bowling and currently based with PriceWaterhouseCoopers in Leeds, will share his journey to employment in a maths related field from primary school, through A levels and University to successful employment.
The Public Forum for Education is a fantastic opportunity to hear about and share good practice. Discussions from the forum contribute to policy making in the district, so we want to hear your views. Anyone with an interest is welcome, so please publicise
through your networks and bring friends and colleagues.
The forum takes place on Wednesday 18 June 2014 from 4.30pm to 6.30pm in the Banqueting Suite, City Hall, Bradford BD1.
