Literacy Coordinators Network Meeting Summer 2014

This will be a new curriculum special delivered by Philip Webb and will feature ‘Poems, plays and presentation – the new curriculum for Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.’

There will be a practical focus on the ‘new’ elements of the curriculum such as learning poems by heart, making presentations, the integration of ICT as well as the use of drama and speaking and listening activities to support reading and writing.

Many of the texts used will focus upon World War 1 to help schools plan literacy activities to commemorate the anniversary but the ideas shared will also be fully transferable to other texts.

We will also look at the booklists and possible long term planning formats for the curriculum.

An assessment update will look ahead to the KS1 SPaG test, the replacement of reading AFs with strands and the implications for national tests in 2016.

There will also be the usual updates and a detailed look at the wealth of resources offered for coordinators through our network membership of the National Literacy Trust.

As always, most of the resources and presentations used on the day will be available for download for coordinators to use in their own schools.

Further information can be found on the flyer: Literacy Flyer
