Schools invited to plant for Yorkshire

With less than two months to go until the Tour de France’s Grand Départ kicks off in Yorkshire, your school is being invited to get involved by Turning Yorkshire Yellow.

Budding green-fingered gardeners can use existing displays in the school garden or create new ones inspired by either their surroundings, the Grand Départ or what being from Yorkshire means to them. Advice on plant care is available here (http://letour.yorkshire.com/documents/tdf/rhs/RHSTurningYorkshireYellow.pdf).

A competition, for schools in local authorities along stage one and two of the race, offers a whole host of prizes for the best design including 6 tickets to the team presentation and, courtesy of Syngenta, up to £500 in gardening vouchers.

If you want to get involved please email Welcome to Yorkshire on flowers@yorkshire.com with a contact name, school and address, contact number, email address and twitter feed.

Entries will be judged via pictures, which should be emailed to flowers@yorkshire.com by 23 June.

The winner will be decided by a discerning panel of judges made up of the organisers, world leading agribusiness, Syngenta, Welcome to Yorkshire, and the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS).
