French and Spanish - for primary school teachers

Are you ready for the challenge ahead in September?

In 2014 languages become a compulsory element of the primary curriculum.

All schools in England will be expected to give seven to 11-year-olds language lessons from September.

However, almost a quarter of primary schools in England have no staff with a language qualification higher than a GCSE, new research suggests.

Shipley College has developed some French, Spanish refresher courses plus Hungarian for beginners aimed at primary school teachers.

These 6 week part-time courses will help develop your basic language skills. Classes are ideal if you wish to increase your confidence to teach languages in the classroom. Each session is for 2 hours which will provide 12 hours of intensive learning in either French or Spanish.

Classes will be held from 4.30pm – 6.30pm Mondays and Wednesdays

Many of our language tutors are native speakers and all our classes are friendly and supportive.

All teachers who complete the course will receive a Record of Achievement.

The cost of each course is £90.  Discounts are available for multiple bookings from the same school.

If you are interested in enrolling for these courses or require any further information, please contact Anne Rowe at Shipley College on 01274 327254.

Other modern European languages such as German and Italian can also be catered for.  Please ask on enquiry.
