Free poppy seeds for schools to help us remember - update

The response from schools to the Council’s Parks and Woodlands department offer of free poppy seeds has been a great success. Below you can find details of how you can obtain you seeds. The aim is to have a display which marks the anniversary of the First World War.

They have poppy seeds available for schools which, when planted in bare cultivated soil in March or April, will provide a glorious display in the summer. They are tiny, so in just 1 gr there are 9,000 seeds so would be ideal to seed in small planters or open earth.

School staff can now pick up the seeds from the department’s operational bases across the district between 8.30am and 12 Noon:

Peel Park Depot, Bolton Road – Bradford North area

Lister Park Depot – North Park Road, Bradford West area

Roberts Park Lodge – Roberts Park - Shipley/BingleyWharfe areas

Foundry Lane Depot – Off Wakefield Road – Bradford South areas

Cliffe Castle Depot – Spring Gardens Lane Kly – Kly/Craven areas
