To mark the launch of the Bradford Clean Air Zone on 26 September 2022, we are asking all Bradford primary schools to join us on our campaign for Clean Air.

We are interested to know what Clean Air means to you and your pupils and also what aspirations and hopes you pupils have for a future when our air is clean.

Bradford currently has illegally high levels of air pollution at certain places across the district, the biggest improvements in health from the implementation of the Clean Air Plan will be seen at schools, many of which are on busy roads.

We are running a poster competition for children to design a poster that captures the problems of dirty air or demonstrates why clean air is important.

What is in it for my school?

For all schools that enter our poster competition Bradford Council will provide an educational workshop for a class in your school to learn about air quality – what it is and why it is important.

Prize packs for the poster competition will contain items for the child and also the school.

Participating Schools are invited to attend our launch day event on Monday 26 September where we will be announcing the winners of the design a poster competition.

Clean Air Poster Competition

We wish that everyone could be a winner, so to help you out, here’s the lowdown on what the judges will be looking for:

  • Creativity in approach – Innovative angle on the content or creative interpretation of the theme
  • Content – Clear, accurate and informative about Clean Air
  • Effective communication – presented and communicated in an engaging way

Entries for the poster competition can be submitted from 6th to 20th September 2022, please get in touch to let us know your school is taking part.

There will be three overall winning posters (one from each age category) will be included in our future Clean Air work and a photomontage of the entries to the poster competition will be posted on the Breathe better Bradford website.

Judging will take place prior to our launch event on the 26th September 2022 and the results will be announced in City park, Bradford during the Clean Air Zone launch event.
