The deadline for primary school children to design a mascot for kindness, compassion and understanding (KCU) has been extended to 5pm on Tuesday 3 May.

The mascot will be used as part of a district-wide campaign to address issues around bullying, such as discrimination, loneliness, poverty and prejudice. It will help spread kindness, compassion and understanding across the district.

All primary schools and students in the district can take part in the design competition, either in groups or individually. The winning school will receive book vouchers and the winning individual or groups will also receive a prize. The KCU mascot will also be displayed at a children’s and young people’s mental health exhibition at Cartwright Hall this summer.

To enter:

  • Give the mascot a name
  • Write a few sentences about it eg, what its character is like, likes and dislikes etc
  • Use anything you like to create it! Paint, sketch, build, craft.... anything goes
  • Send your words and image of the mascot to KCU@allstarents.co.uk
