Following the success of previous Music Education Conferences, the Bradford Music Education Hub are pleased to announce a full day conference taking place on Tuesday 8 March 2022.
Who For? School staff and anyone who recognises the importance of delivering a high-quality music education
When? Tuesday 8 March 2022 – 8.30 am to 5.00 pm. (Lunch and refreshments provided throughout the day)
Where? Mercure Bradford, Bankfield Hotel, Bradford Road, Bingley BD16 1TU
Cost? Free for Bradford & District Schools and Bradford Music Education Hub Partners
(However non-attendance will incur a cost to cover the day delegate rate – see attached policy)
Speakers, presentations, networking and workshops for all school phases – the theme is Inclusive Music. Details of workshops will follow.
We are intending that the conference will be a live and in person event and will ensure appropriate mitigations are in place in line with government guidance. Should the national guidance dictate that we are unable to proceed with a live event, the conference
will be moved online.
Keynote speaker – Sarah Fisher
Sarah Fisher is a multi-instrumentalist and community musician. Sarah lives in Gateshead, North East England and works in a variety of settings, specialising in inclusive music making. She studied BA Community Music at undergraduate level followed by completing
her MA in Community Music. Sarah has cerebral palsy and other disabilities, which has led her to develop ways to teach which do not hinder herself or her participants which she aptly names ‘A Way not The Way’. Sarah is an avid performer and researcher and
has performed and presented at various events and conferences across the UK.
This presentation will include Sarah’s experience growing up in mainstream education and studying music, the internal and external barriers faced along the way, and how she has built resilience through trial and error, which has ultimately led to her career
today.
