Following the DfE announcement about phonics on 1st April, Burley Woodhead English Hub will be clarifying the DfE message about teaching phonics in a free twilight session on 4th and 12th May.

Following the DfE announcement about phonics on 1st April, Burley Woodhead English Hub would like to clarify the DfE message about teaching phonics and talk through a self-audit document that schools can use to assess their own phonics practice. This will hopefully help you to identify if you are using the right SSP for your school or if you would like to explore transitioning to one of the newly validated DfE SSPs when the list is published later in the summer term.

We will explore:

  • the DfE message around SSPs,
  • how to fill out the self-audit document,
  • phonics expectations,
  • how the self-audit will help you to prepare for an Ofsted inspection,
  • where you can receive further assistance if required.
