EU citizens living in the UK must apply to the EU Settlement Scheme by 30 June 2021 in order to protect their rights to carry on living and working in the UK.

Who needs to apply?

EU citizens living in the UK must apply to the EU Settlement Scheme by 30 June 2021 in order to protect their rights to carry on living and working in the UK. Citizens from any of the 27 EU states, EEA or Switzerland who are living in the UK. This includes Third Country Nationals - whose immigration status is dependent on an EU family member.

 

This does not apply to Irish citizens, or EU citizens who have Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) or Indefinite Leave to Enter the UK (ILE), but they may still want to apply. People with a valid Permanent Residence (PR) document will need to exchange this for Settled Status as their document will become invalid after 31 December 2020.
