The Bradford Community Play & Development Service are delighted to share with you an insight into a Schools Fishing Experience from a fantastic day on Wednesday 4th November, with key stage 3 Pupils and their teachers from Park Primary PRU at Farview Fishing Lakes in Bradford.

Yesterday our Key Stage 3 pupils from Park PRU visited Fairview Fishing lakes.

We were greeted by Lee and Caleb and they immediately welcomed the children and made them feel at ease in unfamiliar surroundings. Our pupils have not been able to maintain a placement in their local school either due to a social, emotional or behavioural difficulty or a medical condition.

Lee and Caleb were quick but thorough with expectations and demonstrations, to allow the pupils to immediately begin their fishing experience. Lee and Caleb were friendly, caring and supportive; giving our pupils the appropriate attention they needed, whilst promoting independence and resilience. Lee and Caleb cascaded their knowledge to pupils and staff alike, they were consistently attentive to the needs of the pupils and interacted superbly with them.

The patience and perseverance demonstrated by the pupils was an absolute pleasure to see and the positive experience was made even better by such fantastic instructors.

We could not recommend this experience enough to other schools, in particular alternative provisions. We cannot wait to come back and hopefully the staff can make for the huge 32-1 defeat to the pupils. A huge thank you again to Lee and Caleb.

From Oak and Sycamore class, Mr Morris, Mr Bull and Mr Bray
