Bradford Council launches face mask competition

Bradford’s Young COVID Ambassadors have launched a competition across the district to encourage young people to design their own face coverings.

Prizes of Amazon vouchers will be awarded for creativity and originality. The age range is for anyone under the age of 18 and the competition closes on 30 October.

The Young COVID Ambassadors have been recently recruited by Bradford Council to lead the way for the youth of Bradford District through the current coronavirus pandemic.

They are the ‘voice’ for young people across Bradford. Their broad remit is to prevent the spread of COVID-19; educate young people on how to be safe throughout the pandemic and finally, to respond to the impact that COVID-19 has on the diverse communities within Bradford.

The face covering competition is one of the latest campaigns that has been developed and delivered by the Young COVID Ambassadors to encourage young people across the city to follow the government guidelines.

Cllr Abdul Jabar, Bradford Council’s Executive Member with responsibility for community safety said: “Now more than ever, it is important that our young people follow the guidelines to protect themselves, their families and their communities. The Young COVID Ambassadors came up with the idea, have designed the promotional materials and are excited that it has been launched. It’s a great initiative to creatively encourage young people to wear a face covering and we hope we get lots of entries from across the District.”

Entries should be sent to competition@bradford.gov.uk or posted to the Bradford Youth Service Facebook page @bfdyouthservice. Full terms and conditions can be found on this page.
