Bradford Opportunity Area - seeks new board member from LA maintained education sector. As the DfE funded Bradford Opportunity Area is moving into its 4th academic year of delivery, its Partnership Board is seeking an additional board member to join the board from September 2020.

The Bradford Opportunity Area Partnership Board brings together senior leaders from schools, communities, businesses, central and local government with a shared passion and commitment to give Bradford’s young people the opportunities they deserve.  This is a social mobility programme for Bradford, investing in a range of activities through education.

Our Board members are recognised for their understanding of, and expertise in, responding to the issues our priorities aim to tackle. The Board meets bi-monthly to oversee implementation of our delivery plan, working alongside the Department for Education and other national organisations to ensure that the programme is coherent, effective and represents good value for money.

We are seeking a new Board member from the Local Authority maintained education sector, ideally someone in a senior leadership position who has strong links with other colleagues across the district and someone who feels they can effectively represent  LA maintained schools across Bradford.

The Bradford Opportunity Area is fortunate to have a dynamic and supportive Independent Chair, Anne-Marie Canning: CEO of The Brilliant Club.  She is keen to seek expressions of interest from individuals who are passionate about our purpose, can demonstrate strong leadership skills and is someone who has an active interest in improving education and social mobility outcomes for children and young people living in the Bradford district as well as effectively representing the LA maintained sector.

This is a voluntary position with no numeration attached but, as a Board member, your knowledge and expertise is paramount in helping the OA Programme delivery against its published plan.

If you are interested, please can you send your expression of interest (no more than 2 sides of A4) to Anne-Marie Canning at:   outlining why you would be a suitable for the role.

The selection process will involve shortlisting and a one to one meeting with the Head of Delivery and a representative of the Partnership Board.

The successful candidate will be subject to due diligence checks from the Department for Education.

Deadline for Expressions of Interest is Friday 18th September 2020
