Throughout the next two weeks Saltaire World Heritage Education Association will be adding a new FUN home learning activity each day, to their website. These resources have been created by Rachel Wood (Education Development Consultant for SWHEA) in connection
with Bradford Council's Response programme, which is helping to support small cultural organisations and freelancers.
While keeping to the rules of social distancing, the activities encourage children and young people to ask their parents, grandparents and neighbours about their lives in the past and present. Using items from the Saltaire Collection, the fun tasks include
postcards, top trumps, dream clouds, interviews and mini dramas, to help develop skills in historical inquiry as well as keeping up social interaction.
Postcard connections, Favourite Play and Hidden Heroes have already gone live and can be found under home learning at www.saltairecollection.org and the activities (with all
the resources) can be downloaded for FREE.
They do rely on an adult helping children to using the phone or to send a photorgaph or task via social media but the stories, questions and memories can be explored by the children and grandparents. Once the children have the inforamtion they need, they
can do the next part of everyy task independently.
Photographs of work can be posted on Twitter or Facebook @SaltaireStories.
