We will be doing maintenance to our website systems on Sunday, 31 January. Despite the ongoing situation with Covid-19 it is essential that we maintain the security of our systems. This will help us continue to deliver vital public health messages and information about council services via our website and allow you all to access our services using online forms. The work should be done with little disruption to you and any interruption should be short. If you do have problems accessing the site or something doesn’t work on Sunday, please try again later.
Tech educators from Bradford Council have moved online to offer a virtual resource for teachers, parents and pupils while schools are closed due to the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
The Curriculum Innovation team, which supports primary schools with the computing curriculum, has begun making Youtube videos that set fun tasks that children can do at home.
The challenges are aimed designed for primary school aged children to complete at home with everyday technology that they are likely to have around, with some tech free alternatives to use.
The challenges set already includes creating a treasure hunt using QR codes – the square type of barcode that is read by smart phones. Another asks children to make a digital photo collage showing the signs of spring with pictures taken in their own garden or yard or, if on their daily walk then, of course, by following the latest government guidance on social distancing.
A new challenge will be added every weekday. Parents are encouraged try the challenges with their children too.
The videos can be found on Youtube by searching using #techawaychallenge or via the Curriculum Innovation team’s Facebook page, @curricinnov or Twitter account, @Innov__Services.
