COURSE DESCRIPTION

The course develops an understanding of progress measures for students with speech, language and communication difficulties. Delegates will explore how to personalise learning through appropriate provision and to critically evaluate how this meets students needs. The theory and pedagogy section will look at the key recommendations of the EEF guidance report, Preparing for Literacy, and how these have been applied at Girlington Primary, where 30% of pupils have special educational needs. Delegates will have the opportunity to look at the WELCOMM assessment tool and how this is used to track progress and observe what provision is in place for students with SLCN. Joint professional reflection discussions will enable delegates to discuss relevant ideas that could be applied in their own setting.
