Calling all Under 18s

Following on from the amazing results and success of the Lady Mayoress’ Festival of Talent in 2015Lord Mayor’s Festival of Talent 2016, the City of Bradford Festival of Talent 2017, the City of Bradford Festival of Talent 2018 and the City of Bradford Festival of Talent 2019.

We are inviting all Primary and Secondary Schools in the Bradford Metropolitan District to take part in the City of Bradford Festival of Talent 2019-20.  This has grown in popularity and excellence in the five years since I created it in 2014 when I became the Lady Mayoress of Bradford.

It is our dream and ambition to create and provide a platform where every girl and boy, no matter how young, can take to the stage and experience the magic of performance, whatever the genre.

This year we have received an amazing invitation from Bradford Girls’ Grammar School, so we are proud to be taking these prestigious competitions to their fantastic facilities.  Huge thanks to Bradford Girls’ Grammar School, Staff and Students!

The Festival of Talent is free to enter and all acts are welcome, whether vocal, theatrical, choral or instrumental, in solos, duos, groups, bands or choirs.  We want them all.  We ask only that the performances have been originated by the performers themselves and are not of the teachers’ design.  We do welcome teachers’ participation but only in conducting and accompaniment roles, or a single band member instrumentalist.

Each school is allowed to submit a maximum of four acts to the semi-finals, which will be held on two successive Friday evenings in February 2020, one for each age group, with the Finals in March.  Each finalist will receive a certificate and the two winners, (one in each age group) , will receive a trophy to keep outright, as will both runners-up.

The winners will be invited to bring their parents and teachers to City Hall for tea with the Lord Mayor, and there will be opportunities for further public performances in association with the Music and Arts Service and other agencies.

You can download the registration form by clicking here and the closing date for entries is Friday 13th December 2019.

We want to involve the entire Bradford Community in these competitions, and make them known to every girl and boy who cherishes secret yearnings to stand in front of audiences and entertain them, but who might otherwise never get the opportunity.

The 2019 winners were a primary school dancer and a secondary school gymnast and you can find out more about last year Festival of Talent by click here
