COURSE DESCRIPTION

The course provides an introduction to attachment in the classroom, trauma and loss, and explores theories by Louise Bomber and Helen Townsend to explore what survival looks like for children with SEMH. Delegates will examine how this theory has been used and adapted for use in mainstream classrooms in Cottingley Village Primary and also in the DSP for SEMH. The course includes some observations in classrooms to explore what strategies and provision are in place to support students and ensure that they feel safe. Joint professional reflection discussions will enable delegates to plan how strategies and provision could be adapted for use in their settings.
