Children's Trust Board - Children Friendly City Status

To be completed by: Thu 10 Oct 2019

Time: -Thu 10 Oct 2019 | Venue:

You are warmly invited to join the Children’s Trust Board for a focus session about Children Friendly City status.

This focus session will take place on the 10th October 2019 at 16:00 in the Hockney Meeting Room, Margaret McMillan Tower, Bradford, BD1 1NN.

The purpose of the session will be to find out more about the potential for Bradford District to form a partnership with UNICEF, to work towards child friendly district status.

If a partnership is formed with UNICEF, then the children’s trust board is ideally placed to take a prominent role in providing governance and a steer for the programme.

Rather than simply being yet another “compliance” exercise for the district, the child friendly district programme will affirm children’s rights as the values and principles which underpin the work of all members sitting on the children’s trust board.

The focus session will enable us to explore what this might mean in terms of the work already being undertaken by members of the board and what difference it could make to Bradford District. It will also allow the children’s trust board to form a view as to whether a potential partnership with UNICEF is something which it wants to support and promote within the district.

The session will be facilitated by Sue Woolmore, who is currently undertaking a scoping exercise about UNICEF child friendly district status, on behalf of the Local Authority Chief Executive’s office.
