Mathematical Enquiry and Greater Dep>the in the Primary School
Hosted by Bowling Park Primary School (Usher Street Site)
Led by Sharon Day of SharonDayMa>the s Ltd.
the National Curriculum states >the at all children should learn how to:
reason mathematically by following a line of enquiry, conjecturing relationships and generalisations, and developing an argument, justification or proof using mathematical language. In order to demonstrate Greater Dep>the children should
be able to: independently explore and investigate mathematical contexts and structures, communicate results clearly and systematically explain and generalise the mathematics.
this course, using the vehicle of lesson study, will show teachers how to develop children’s mathematical habits and skills by giving them the opportunity to observe and reflect on Sharon teaching a lesson during each of the >the ree sessions. Supporting materials
for gap tasks and follow-up will be provided.
