For children to achieve their full potential in the KS2 tests, every teacher in all year groups has to play their part with confidence. This course will help teachers to deliver their own maths curriculum with understanding.

In order for children to achieve their full potential in the Key Stage Two mathematics tests, every teacher in every year group across school has to play their part with confidence. Gaps, misunderstandings and misconceptions need to be addressed at every stage and we need to ensure that the children learn the content of every year group and not just ‘cover it’.

The aim of this course is to equip teachers in year 4 with how to:

  • know and deliver their year group’s subject content in depth
  • make natural links within and between different mathematical domains as well as across other National Curriculum subjects to ensure that learning is meaningful and memorable
  • observe and assess age-related expectations ensuring that children are on track
  • recognise and address common (and not so common) misunderstandings and misconceptions for their year group
