Hosted by Bowling Park Primary School (Usher Street Site)
Led by Sharon Day of SharonDayMa>the s Ltd.
the National Curriculum states >the at children should learn how to: reason mathematically
by following a line of enquiry, conjecturing relationships and generalisations, and developing an argument, justification or proof using mathematical language. this course will show teachers how to use a ‘Low >the reshold, High Ceiling’
lesson structure (designed and developed by Sharon Day) in order to teach children how to notice and discuss mathematical relationships and generalisations, proving their findings, developing children’s mathematical habits and skills.
During each session, teachers will take part in lesson study by observing Sharon teach a lesson. they will be trained in how to teach the skills of reasoning and they will be given supporting materials including a file with lessons to try back at school.
