Shipley College has been supporting the Health and Social Care competitions since 2012, both at the finals in Birmingham and also hosting heats at Shipley College. This year the heats will run all day (from approx 9.30am- 6.30pm) on Thursday 4th and Friday 5th July.

We would like to invite you to visit one of the heats so we can showcase what can be achieved in Health & Social Care. This is a rare opportunity to observe these live, practical scenarios. Observers will gain an insight into the profession and first hand experience of what is expected for potential future competitors. This will be of interest to those studying, working or considering a career in health and social care.If you would like to attend, please complete this form. We look forward to seeing you in July.

WorldSkills UK brings together apprentices and students from across the UK to compete to be the best in their chosen skill, first in regional heats and then in a national final. For those competitors who are eligible, this can then lead to a place in Team UK for international skills competitions which run every two years. The next one is this summer in Kazan, Russia and in 2021 it will be in Shanghai, China.

Each competition presents a series of tests, designed by industry experts, which focus on the highest UK and International standards. Apprentices and students from across the country register with WorldSkills UK Competitions to compete in a skill of their choosing.

This year’s Health and Social Care Competition has been designed to assess each competitor’s knowledge, practical skills and employability attributes against a set of strict criteria. The highest scoring eight competitors will be invited to compete at the WorldSkills UK Live Finals from 21-23 November at the Birmingham NEC.
