Primary Schools:

This January 26th to February 2nd is National Storytelling Week!

This year, we want to share our Mary’s Meals story with you.  Please find attached two resources we have created for primary schools to use during National Storytelling week.

In our lower school resource you will find some information about Mary’s Meals and some stories about the children who receive them. Our upper school resource includes excerpts from our founder, Magnus MacFarlane-Barrow’s bestselling book ‘The Shed That Fed A Million Children’. We really hope you enjoy it!

You may have already heard the great news that From Monday, 3 December, until 1 March 2019, the UK government will match all public donations to our Double The Love appeal, up to £2 million, to provide school meals for hungry children in Zambia. If your school is looking for ways to support Mary’s Meals, why not Double The Love this February by asking for a door donation at your school’s Valentine’s disco or by arranging a non-uniform day. We would be more than happy to provide your school with posters, leaflets and collection boxes to help you with this.

Please do not hesitate to get in touch with us at schools@marysmeals.org and happy storytelling!

Secondary Schools:

This January 26th to February 2nd is National Storytelling Week!

This year, we want to share our Mary’s Meals story with you. Please find attached a wonderful resource we have created for secondary schools.

Inside you will find, for each day of the week, one of our favourite passages from our founder Magnus MacFarlane-Barrow’s bestselling book ‘The Shed That Fed A Million Children’. Through these stories, your class can travel with Magnus to Malawi, Liberia and the highlands of Scotland and meet some of the people who inspired Mary’s Meals work.  Each passage can be read on its own or all together to give a fuller story, and there are suggested discussion group questions alongside each passage. We hope you enjoy it!
