Bradford Youth Voice
Bradford Council Children’s Services has appointed its first Social Media Apprentice. The role is to help create some stronger and more effective links with children and young people, using a range of social media platforms. Social media platforms will
be used to distribute safety messages, capture young people’s voices and opinions and to create interaction around key issues affecting their lives. The apprentice will also be working with professionals in the department to encourage and empower their increased
use of social media.
As part of this work is the Bradford Youth Voice, a Social Media account being piloted by the Department of Children’s Services that has come to fruition with the intention of providing a platform on which young people can receive News/Warnings about the
district as well as voice their thoughts and opinions on what’s happening and what they would like to see happen in Bradford. The platform will also allow young people to engage in debates that are relevant to them which will allow us to receive feedback which
may be otherwise missed.
Currently operating on Instagram under the handle ‘@BradfordYouthVoice’, this platform posts regular content based around what’s currently happening in the district and should the pilot be successful we hope to put out some ‘food for thought’ questions where
young people will be able to respond directly to us or discuss with their peers to give us their thoughts on the matter.
