Digital Leader Programme 2018-19

Registration is open for all 3 Cohorts of the 2018-19 Digital Leader Academy delivered by Paul Scott at the Innovation Centre Bradford. The programme is aimed at enabling KS2 pupils to become experts and advocates of using appropriate technologies in schools to act as ambassadors and peer mentors.

The Digital Leader Academy (DLA) programme consists of 2 half days face to face training, an in school visit recorded as a blog post and an end of year celebration event. At the end of the programme all pupils receive a certificate and a Digital Leader Academy wrist band. Throughout the programme the children have access to the Digital Leader Academy Online materials hosted on Edmodo that allows them to communicate with other children and ourselves sharing their successes as Digital Leaders. They can also apply for Online Badges and certificates to celebrate their achievements as Digital Leaders. Children often contact us to share their progress, ask for support or apply for the Online Badges and it is great to have regular updates from them sharing their excitement at being a Digital Leader.

Our Digital Leader Academy Programme enables children to:

  • Describe and model the safe and responsible use of a range of technologies.
  • Demonstrate appropriate knowledge and understanding of specific technologies relevant to each school context.
  • Exhibit good communication skills and collaborate effectively with staff and students.
  • Understand the concept of ‘Student Voice’ and become a conduit for this across the school with reference to the use of innovative digital and mobile technology.

The academy runs 3 cohorts over the year where a member of staff and 6 children attend 2 half day training sessions, a celebration event and receive a school visit. Included is full support for staff and children for a year through the online learning platform Edmodo and the award of Digital Leader virtual badges and certificates for achievements completed by the pupils.
