Research points to a vocabulary gap having a long-lasting impact on children’s education and later life prospects while the demands of the curriculum require teachers to have a bank of knowledge and strategies to call on to challenge and support every group in school.


Closing the word gap: why vocabulary is important

In this introductory session, we look at the evidence around why vocabulary is important, discuss the challenges faced in primary schools and explore solutions to the issue.
