There will be Sexual Health Training Courses on various topics in October and November 2018. Please see below for details

“Answering questions about sex and relationships”

  • Explore appropriate language
  • Gain knowledge of sexual development in childhood and young people.
  • Know what questions to expect and when.
  • Gain information and an opportunity to practise age appropriate responses to the questions children and young people may ask about growing up and relationships.

  • Understand the meaning of positive sexuality and good sexual health.
  • Develop an awareness of young people’s sexual health needs.
  • Develop an awareness of some of the pressures and influences on young people’s sexual development.

  • The grooming process for young boys and girls.

  • Gain awareness of recent research highlighting the prevalence and availability of pornography.
  • Explore the potential impact of pornography on young people.
  • Gain practical ways to help young people develop media literacy and be resilient to  pressures created by a sexualised media.

“HIV”

  • Understand basic up-to-date information regarding transmission; treatment; the effects of HIV in the body and impact on health.
  • Equip people to be able to promote testing and promote early diagnosis for better life expectancy.
  • Understand legal issues relating to those living with HIV, including the law around transmission.
  • Explore attitudes toward people living with HIV including the prevalence and impact of stigma.
  • Know the main support services for people living with HIV.
