The Government has launched a Tax-Free Childcare scheme, enabling eligible families to claim an extra 20% towards their childcare costs. As a result these changes, from April 2018 we will no longer be able to accept new entrants to the Council’s employer supported childcare voucher scheme.

  • ?If you would like to join the Council's voucher scheme you must do so before April 2018.
  • If you are already a member of the Council's Childcare Voucher scheme, then you can remain in the scheme after April 2018 (assuming you continue to be employed by the Council). The scheme can enable you to make savings of up to £933 vouchers per??? year on your childcare costs, depending on your individual circumstances. ?

We would strongly recommend that you review your childcare voucher arrangements as soon as possible to check which scheme will provide the best savings for your circumstances.

The Government's information website provides lots of information including a childcare calculator to help you work out what is best for you.

If you do find that the your employers Childcare Vouchers scheme is the best option for you, you must apply to join the scheme before April 2018 – any applications received after this date will not be accepted.
