Secondary School Reps Required for the new Education, Health & Care Panel

Would you like to be a Secondary School Representative for the new Education, Health and Care Panel?

Since our Education, Health and Care Panel was recently launched we have had a brilliant response from Primary Schools, signing up as volunteers for the panel.

We are once again inviting all Secondary School Headteachers/SENCOs to reconsider becoming a member of the panel?

This is an exciting opportunity for school colleagues to make a significant contribution to Education, Health and Care decisions and we look forward to receiving your support.

Following the peer challenge there were a number of areas requiring development;  a critical area being the need for a multi-agency approach to the decision making in relation to Education, Health and Care assessments, funding and placements.  Health and Social Care are highly committed to ensuring that we have a multi-agency approach to managing the EHC process.

In order to ensure that we have transparency and a robust decision making process we require Secondary School Headteacher/Senior SEND members of staff representation on the EHC Panel.

We are asking colleagues to commit to attending the EHC Panel for one full day (8:30 – 17:00), each half term.  Colleagues will also be asked to undertake prior reading of panel papers.  We are aware that this is a significant commitment of your valuable time, however, this is an essential priority for the SEND transformation and your support to this is vital.
