Working at Greater Depth - Primary Mathematics Moderation Project

To be completed by: Wed 31 Jan 2018

Time: -Wed 31 Jan 2018 | Venue:

Eldwick Primary School is offering Maths Leaders and teachers the opportunity to look at what it means to be at age-related with greater depth for the Primary age range.

Following on from the success of the age-related mathematics moderation project 2016-2017, we will be looking at what it means to be at age-related with greater depth for the Primary Age Range. Mathematics Subject Leaders will find the course particularly useful but all teachers are also welcome. There will be three afternoon sessions during the Spring and Summer terms and delegates will need to attend them all. During the three sessions we will be:

  • Exploring how to embed practice into our teaching that enables our ‘higher attainers’ to develop the skills necessary to be assessed at ‘greater depth’
  • Creating descriptors for each year group for teachers to refer to when assessing whether a child has reached greater depth or not
  • Contributing to an on-line portfolio of exemplification

There will be opportunities for professional dialogue with colleagues from a variety of settings and the course leader, Sharon Day, will be modelling with groups of children for the delegates to observe. This will allow them to see how to promote greater depth and how to decide if a child has reached age-related at greater depth.

The dates are as follows and are at Eldwick Primary School. Delegates will need to attend all three sessions:
