Are you seeking to improve children’s outcomes in
writing and motivate them as writers?
Do you want to develop your teachers’ knowledge and practice as teachers of writing?
If so then you will be interested in the Craft
of project.
Funded by EEF and the RSA, this is a partnership project between the OU,
the University of Exeter and Arvon. It is exploring how the opportunity for teachers to work with professional writers might change
v their
understanding of being a writer,
v how
they teach writing, and
v improve
children’s outcomes in writing.
This is a rare opportunity
for deep, sustained CPD in the teaching of writing that focuses on both writing standards and children’s motivation and engagement as creative and effective writers.
The project is targeted at Yr 5 teachers and involves two significantly subsidised weekend residentials at Lumb Bank,
(The Ted Hughes Arvon Centre near Hebden Bridge, W.Yorks), 3 free CPD days and some supply cover.
