Training Course Outline

Title    

Supporting a child with a visual impairment in an early years’ setting to get moving safely and independently; developing mobility skills

Description of training

You will learn about….

 

  • Basic sighted guide technique
  • Pre-cane skills
  • Orientation around a setting
  • Knowledge of infant movement development including kinaesthetic sense and proprioception
  • Supporting a child who is using a long cane
     

The training will be practical and require active participation.

Suitable for

Any person who works with or supports a young child with a visual impairment
