Supporting Deaf and Hearing Impaired Children in Secondary School

Description of training

Content: understanding hearing loss, implications for communication, language and learning, hearing aids and other assistive devices, impact of adolescence, pupil and parent perspectives, strategies for supporting learning in school, identifying problems and advice on steps to take.

Outcomes: equip teaching assistants with the knowledge and skills to meet the needs of the deaf/hearing impaired children they support.

Suitable for

Teaching Assistants currently involved with children with permanent hearing loss

Delivered by

Teacher of the Deaf with input from other specialist colleagues
