Title    

Deafblind/MSI Awareness

Description of training

Introduction to working with students with a dual-sensory impairment, including:

  • Causes and implications of vision and hearing impairment and some conditions associated with dual-sensory impairment.
  • The importance of functional sensory assessment.
  • The importance of tactile approaches to learning and communication.
  • The individual curriculum and role of the Deafblind Intervenor.

This course would be complemented by participants attending other courses including:

  • The Individual Curriculum and Deafblind/MSI Students
  • Tactile Communication

Suitable for

Anyone working with Deafblind/MSI students including school staff and respite workers
