Achieving Excellence in Mathematical Language / Talk 4 Maths
An interactive JPD programme delivered over 4 half days with gap tasks. Led by Bradford Birth to 19 Specialist Leaders in Education (SLE)/Leader of Excellent Practice (LEP) and supported by Sam Adams from Education Works.
Outcomes:
• Delegates gain in-depth subject knowledge, specifically with calculation fluency and cross-strand fluency
• National Curriculum and Development Matters objectives are achieved in a creative and effective manner
• Children can demonstrate reasoning when tackling problem-solving tasks collaboratively
• Children see the link to making maths real
Target audience:
Early career teachers, NQTs, RQTs, teachers changing year groups
Course Content
Day 1 (half day):
An introduction to talk for maths, and practical application of problem solving, communication and reasoning
Day 2 (half day):
Talk4Maths in action; delegates will receive support in their schools from an SLE/LEP around Day 1 input
Day 3 (half day):
Practical application of Concrete-Picture-Abstract and Enquiry
Day 4 (half day):
Talk4Maths in action; delegates will receive support in their schools from an SLE/LEP around Day 3 input
Delegates attending the course will receive access to downloadable high quality Mathematics resources

Day 1 and day 3 will both take place at Crossflatts Primary School Morton Lane, Crossflatts, Bingley, West Yorkshire, BD16 2EP and will run from 12.30pm to 3.30pm
Participants will need to commit to all 4 days of the programme for the chosen phase. The cost for all 4 days in one phase is: £200+VAT
